The Awareness Centre (TAC) was founded eight years ago by Michaela McCarthy and has developed into one of the leading providers of clinical and complementary therapies in London. More recently, Kelly Garrett joined TAC as Clinical Director and Business Partner working with Michaela to develop the Centre further.
The Awareness Centre has over 100 practitioners offering different therapies and treatments supporting our ever growing clientele. Some of our clinical therapists work with clients via Skype and some of our complementary therapists offer home visits.
We work with individuals, couples, families, children and groups. All of our experienced therapists are fully qualified, registered and insured and some of our clinical therapists are registered with health care providers and work in different languages to support the London community.
The Awareness Centre is a limited company and works with other commercial and charity organisations. We work in partnership with the South London and Maudsley NHS Trust (SLAM) who provide the services for Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) throughout Lambeth.
We also provide an established CPD Seminar and Training Programme for counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists to develop their learning and skills as a practitioner. Our programme offers training in Working with Addiction, Eating Disorders, Trauma, Survivors of Sexual Abuse, Death and Dying, Developing your Private Practice, CBT , Working with the Imago and Relationship Approach, Working with Systemic Constellations, Working with Young People, Working with Couples, Working with Attachment and Loss, Working with Relational Movements and Being the Creative Therapist. Our facilitators come with a wealth of experience and you will be provided with a CPD certificate after completion of the training.
In addition, Gateway offers complementary therapy training at TAC and we have a wide range of clinical therapists providing workshops for clients and therapists. We also provide Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous meetings. These meetings are self-supporting groups for people who are struggling with addiction.
We also provide the largest Clinical Placement for therapists offering both short and long term therapy to clients in South London. We recruit therapists from the most established clinical training institutes in London.
Although Michaela and Kelly work in private practice as psychotherapists, both come from a business background and believe in providing a holistic approach. During Michaela’s clinical training she had a vision to share her own personal and professional development with others and decided to embark on a journey to establish The Awareness Centre.
Our philosophy at The Awareness Centre is to create a relaxing environment so that clients and practitioners can work on their self-development and clinical experience at their own pace. We also believe that ‘one approach to therapy does not treat or teach all’, so it is worth looking at our web-site or speaking to a member of our team to discuss the right path for you.
We are open seven days a week, between 7am-10pm Monday to Friday, 9am-6pm on Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sundays. We are closed on Bank Holidays. Should you need to contact us during out of hours, our emergency number for urgent calls only is 07850 282 495. Our centre also provides disabled access and mother and baby changing facilities.
