The Awareness Centre, also known as TAC, was established in 2005 and is based in Clapham, South West London, SW4. The centre was founded by Michaela McCarthy whose aim is to combine and integrate the principals of conventional and complementary medicine and clinical therapeutic practice.
This holistic approach can support an individual’s medical, physical, psychological, emotional, social, nutritional and spiritual well being. The aim of this approach is to maintain good health and develop an awareness of how we can interact with our environment.
This centre is managed by a robust team and has over 100 practitioners who provide different approaches to therapy for individuals, couples, families, children and groups.
Each department and clinic at the centre has been developed by Michaela McCarthy our Managing Director. She is also a qualified Counsellor, Psychotherapist, Psychosexual and Relationship Therapist, Clinical Supervisor and Organisational Consultant.
Michaela decided to open this centre because she wanted to share her knowledge of the therapeutic world with others and to make it more accessible so people can explore and understand their meaning of life. However our philosophy here at the centre believes that one approach to therapy is not for all so we suggest that you choose the therapy that works for you. Please be aware that all our practitioners are qualified, registered and fully insured.

Our Mother and Baby Clinic aims to provide services and treatments to look after the expectant Mum and unborn baby, through to birth and beyond. Our team of complementary practitioners offer fertility and IVF support, pregnancy massage and maternity reflexology, pre and post natal yoga and Pilates, acupuncture, physiotherapy, osteopathy and cranial osteopathy.
We hope that symptoms such as morning sickness, backache, leg cramps, water retention and blocked circulation could be eased by choosing a treatment from the MBC team. We also hope that relief of these symptoms could mean that Mum can focus on the body and to connect with baby in anticipation of the birth. It is hoped that in doing so, Mum might experience a shorter labour and require less pain relief.
Once baby is born, we offer baby massage and post natal yoga and Pilates. Physiotherapy and osteopathy treatments are available from birth onwards, and aim to treat colic, feeding, reflux, glue ear and skeletal problems, amongst others.
