image Marc Innes (MCMA): Tutor at the Awareness Centre

My name is Marc Innes and I have a medical background in the NHS, working for the Ambulance Service for the past 22 years. I was stationed at one of the London 's busiest ambulance stations in fact, one of the busiest in the world!
Over the years I have dealt with a multitude of medical emergencies and major incidents, working alongside other medical staff and paramedics. I have also been an Instructor in the NHS, teaching and coaching new medical staff.

My experience enables me to deliver relevant and practical user friendly training, without the need for confusing and unnecessary medical jargon and terminology, unless of course it’s a word or term you really need to know!

I have a down to earth approach to First Aid, based on my experience of NHS best practice and training; I also incorporate a great deal of practical work during the sessions, one of the best proven ways for people to learn and retain important information - especially something as important as First Aid

I became a complementary therapist a number of years ago because I was interested in the concept of ‘east meets west’ medicine and how they could work together to bring an all rounded holistic approach to treating the physical, mental and emotional bodies.  I’m pleased to share my view with people that I think over recent years, there has been a definite paradigm shift in this area and it thrills me to see more and more complementary therapies increasingly entering the NHS.

I was thrilled to be asked to join Gateway workshops last year, who are a well known and well respected holistic and massage training college, registered and approved by the Complementary Medical Association ( CMA ) of which I am a full member as a tutor. Gateway Workshops now run a number of courses at The Awareness Centre throughout the year, where we can offer the following courses:

o       Natural Lift Face Massage Diploma Course

o       Seated Chair/Acupressure Massage Diploma Course

o       Indian Head Massage Diploma Course

o       Thai Foot Massage Diploma Course

o       Hopi Ear Candling Workshops

o       First Aid for Therapists (Certificates issued by a HSE Approved Company)

o       Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) Workshops, Levels 1, 2 & 3 (Courses are approved by AAMET who are the Association of Advanced Meridian Energy Therapies)

o       From time to time I also run short 4 hour First aid courses for Parents of new babies and young children – these are designed to equip parents with more knowledge and so more confidence in dealing with their children, should an emergency arise. Please see details in the reception area of The Awareness Centre.
