About The Awareness Centre
The Awareness Centre (also known as TAC) was founded in 2005 by Michaela McCarthy (Managing Director of TAC and qualified Counsellor, Psychotherapist, Psychosexual and Relationship Therapist, Clinical Supervisor and Organisational Consultant), with a single aim, “to combine and integrate the principals of conventional and complementary medicine and clinical therapeutic practice”.
Our holistic approach supports an individual’s medical, physical, psychological, emotional, social, nutritional and spiritual needs and well being, all of which play an important part in maintaining good health.
The Awareness Centre (TAC) has over 100 practitioners all here in Clapham (South West London, SW4). Our practitioners provide different approaches to therapy for not just individuals, but also for couples, families, children and groups.
In this blog, we will be talking about all the issues we care about, updates on the newest therapies available, as well as useful tips on how to live a happy and healthy life. Blog Topics will include:
- Counselling, Psychotherapy, Psychology, Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy
- Complementary Therapies
- Mother and Baby Clinics
- Yoga and Pilates
- And many more
We will also provide lots of info for therapists who may want to get involved in working with us, or have a clinical placement at TAC.

Please note that all types and forms of complementary therapies are not intended to replace allopathic and conventional medical treatment and care. Nor are they intended to replace proper diagnoses and treatment by a qualified medical practitioner. Complementary therapies are intended to work side by side with conventional treatment. Also, the therapist cannot guarantee specific results. The therapist may give information or guidance that could bring about positive change and such information or guidance is given for the client to consider. Although the therapist will be as supportive and helpful as possible in all decision making and change processes, any resulting choices and changes made by the client do remain the personal and legal responsibility of the client.
Counselling or Psychotherapy Treatments are not a substitute for professional medical care by a qualified doctor or other health care professional. Always check with your doctor if you have any concerns about your condition or treatment. Clients are responsible for assessing the outcome of their treatment and are advised to refer to NICE guidelines for further information. Thank you.
