Yoga and Pilates Classes

We offer a wide range of Yoga and Pilates classes. Please take a look at our weekly timetable and book a class by contacting the centre direct and booking with a member of our reception team on 020 8673 4545. Click here to see our lastest offers and promotions.

Cancellation policy:  We require 24 hour notice for cancellation or changes to booked appointments. Late cancellations cancelling or changing classes will be subject to 50% of your fees.

Body Control Pilates with Chidem Brewer

Body Control PilatesFor all levels

Matwork classes are taught in groups of 10, this allows the instructor to correct and help each individual with their alignment. Each class is mixed ability; the exercises are adapted to suit the individual’s needs.

The exercises are performed in various positions from lying on your back, standing, side lying, sitting or four point kneeling. Each position challenging your strength and stability while increasing your mobility. Small pieces of equipment are used in the classes, stretch bands, weights, overballs, fit balls or foam rollers.

If you have back ache, posture problems, weak muscles especially in your core area , stiffness, stretching difficulties or even if you simply don’t do much exercise, then Chidem’s Pilates classes could really  help you.

Chidem is also available for private consultation and tuition if you would prefer not to attend in a group.

About the Practitioner:
Chidem Brewer trained with Body Control Pilates in London in 2008. Since qualifying she has been on many courses to keep her teaching skills up to date, bringing new ideas into her classes on a regular basis. In the last 3 years she has worked closely with Physiotherapists to gain a deep knowledge of pain management enabling her to help clients with their rehabilitation.

Before becoming a Pilates Instructor she used to be a receptionist and suffered with very poor posture and back pain due to standing and sitting for long hours, then she found Pilates.

 

Deep Stretch Hatha Yoga with Emmanuelle Rossi

Hatha Yoga at The Awareness CentreDeep Stretch Hatha Yoga class with a strong focus on breath (Pranayama) techniques, precision and alignment. These classes are designed to hone the mind and tone the body.

The classes are held in an extra warm studio to enhance muscle release. Regular practice will provide you with strength, focus, flexibility, openness and a boosted immune system.

Fluid Hatha Yoga with Nazanin Azimian

Fluid Hatha Yoga with Nazanin AzimianIntroductory class £5 to new clients. Loyalty cards available – 6 classes for £50

Nazanin’s dedication to yoga and yoga therapy is the result of her own healing journey through yoga. She took her first yoga class whilst living in LA in the 90’s when she was looking for a way to reduce her own spiralling anxiety. She was soon hooked on this powerful mind-body practice, which has become an integral part of her life and continues to calm both her body and her mind. She often describes yoga as having a mental shower from the inside out.

Nazanin’s ‘Fluid Hatha Yoga’ classes will be based on the vinyasa principles of synchronisation of the breath and movement.  This will involve weaving together an energetic flowing sequence of postures linked together with the breath. This type of power yoga strengthens the body, increases stamina and balances the mind. Each class will be tailored according to her clients’ needs and experience.   

She is qualified to teach children, as well as adults. She has also completed yet another teacher's training where she intends to work with people to alleviate stress, anxiety, depression and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), by integrating the benefits of yoga postures, breath practices, mindfulness techniques and psychotherapeutic theories.

General Pilates with Agur Arrien

Pilates with Agur ArrienBeginners/Improvers and Intermediate/Advanced with Agur Arrien

Agur is a Pilates teacher who combines her dance background with her Pilates teaching skills. She is a member of Pilates Foundation UK and a specialist in Pre-and Post-natal Pilates.

Agur discovered Pilates during her rehabilitation from a dislocated shoulder which occurred during a dance performance. She was then inspired to train as a Pilates teacher not only to share the benefits she experienced but also to incorporate her love for movement into her teaching.

Agur enjoys continuous exploration of Pilates both in her own body and with others. She brings elements of whole body movement, fitness and remedial Pilates to her classes. She aims to develop people´s understanding and awareness of their bodies while encouraging wellbeing through functional exercise.

Pregancy Flow Yoga with Tea McKernan

Enjoy unwinding and connecting with Baby in this beautiful and creative style of yoga. Choreographed to gentle music, you will learn to move gracefully, creating space for baby, while generating inner
peace and tranquillity. Vinyasa Flow is uniquely suited to Pregnancy, as the circular, rhythmic movements, and the focus on the breath, prepare mum for labour. Each class is a sanctuary where mum and baby can relax and just be.

Vinyasa Flow Yoga with Erin Prichard

Erin Prichard at The Awareness CentreA Vinyasa class open to all levels of practitioners.

Introductory class £5 to new clients.

The asanas will be taught in a powerful,creative, flowing Vinyasa style in which we move with the breathe to create internal heat, challenge the body while quieting the mind.

Modifications are offered to lessen or intensify the asana practice, enabling students to work at their own pace. Each class will include pranayama, meditation, and relaxation.

Erin has been practicing yoga for the last 9 years in the Ashtanga and Vinyasa Flow styles of yoga. In 2004 at Discovery Yoga in St. Augustine Florida, she gained her 200 hour teaching certification  which is accredited by the Yoga Alliance .She has been teaching in different studios as well as privately for the last 5 years. She also teaches yoga to children and attained  her Yoga Bugs teaching certification in 2007. 

She has studied with some of the world's most renowned teachers including Shiva Rea, Beryl Birch, David Swenson, Matthew Sweeney, David Life, John Scott, Richard Freeman and Shri and Stan Hubbard. She continues her own development of asana, pranayama and meditation daily and continues her studies and practice by attending  many  workshops and  intensive training sessions including a 40 hour teacher’s intensive workshop with Richard Freeman.

Important cautions

Please note the following important cautions before practicing Yoga or Pilates at the Centre:

Not all exercise is suitable for everyone, and this or any exercise programme may result in injury. Consult with your doctor before you practice Yoga or Pilates.

To reduce the risk of injury, never force or strain yourself during exercise. If you feel pain, stop and seek medical attention if necessary.

Menstruating women should refrain from performing inverted poses, back bends or vigorous standing poses. Pregnant women should not perform abdominal twists, bends or tightening exercises. Those with special health considerations should consult their medical practitioner before performing any exercise.

The instructors at the Centre cannot guarantee that their class is suitable and safe for every individual.
